Job summary

The Commonwealth Fund invites an intern to support program activities within the Expanding Coverage and Access team. The position involves policy research, briefing materials, and engagement with policymakers to advance equitable health care access.

This opportunity is located in Washington, DC, with the possibility of remote work, and offers a stipend of $28 per hour for 15–20 hours per week from September 2026 to May 2027.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be an enrolled student in a master’s or doctoral degree program.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication with exceptional attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support the launch of a new collaborative focused on improving long-term care, including research, briefing materials, tracking developments, and meeting preparation and follow-up.
• Assist with Fund-supported surveys and other products by creating tables, checking data for accuracy, preparing data summaries and drafting summaries.
• Conduct literature reviews, prepare research summaries, and synthesize evidence to support meetings, proposals, and publications.
• Assist with outreach and social media presence to promote Fund-supported work.
• Track grantmaking impact, maintain grant records, monitor timeliness, and assist with meeting preparation.
• Support other team members on the Expanding Coverage and Access team, as requested.
