Job summary

LifeLine is seeking a Medicar Driver in Illinois to transport wheelchair-bound patients safely between facilities and homes. You will load, transport, and unload patients while following care protocols and documenting trips accurately.

Responsibilities include operating GPS, maintaining the van, completing run sheets, and reporting issues. The role requires HIPAA compliance, courteous interaction with patients and staff, and a willingness to participate in orientation.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• A valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Consent to a criminal background check.
• Must be available for a 3 day orientation.
• Ability to lift up to 75 LBS.
• Ability to push/pull a wheelchair that may be carrying at least 250 LBS.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from medical facilities and/or home in a timely fashion.
• Utilize GPS equipment to locate hospitals, medical facilities, and patient home.
• Complete run sheet for each patient, fully recording each trip.
• Ensure wheelchair van is in good working order and kept clean.
• Report mechanical problems to Dispatch and Shift Supervisor.
• Follow all company policies.
• Adherence to and compliance with HIPAA.
• Interact with patients, escorts, family members and facility staff in a respectful manner, always focusing on the best outcome for the patient.

Our Medicar personnel are responsible for our highest source of call volume. They load, transport and unload wheelchair patients in a safe manner while adhering to patient care protocols and documenting appropriately.
