Job summary

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, NJ is seeking a Unit Secretary for Per Diem shifts, 7AM-3PM and 3PM-11PM, with weekend coverage. The role supports patient care units through clerical tasks and transcription, ensuring smooth operation of orders and communications.

The position offers hourly compensation of $23.50 plus shift differential, orientation, and opportunities for advancement within a team of over 44,000 dedicated colleagues.

Qualifications

• Proficient computer skills required.
• Minimum of 1 year of clerical experience in a medical setting.
• High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical services to patient care units, including transcription of orders and filing reports.
• Answer phones, take and deliver messages verbally or by phone.
• Maintain close communication with the Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Handle all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
• Order supplies from Materials Management.
• Verify physician privileges prior to transcribing orders.
• Arrange for the transport of patients for tests not offered in the hospital.
