Job summary

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in Chester, NJ is seeking a Unit Secretary to join our team on a per diem basis. Shifts run 3PM–11PM, including weekdays and weekends, at our Morris County inpatient rehabilitation hospital.

Responsibilities include clerical support for patient care units, telephone/message handling, coordination with nursing and transportation, and timely processing of orders and paperwork. Per diem employees may be eligible for 401(k) matching and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proficient computer skills required.
• Minimum of 1 year of clerical experience in a medical setting.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical services to patient care units using independent judgment.
• Answer the telephone, take and deliver messages.
• Maintain close communication with the Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Handle all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
• Order supplies, as needed, from Materials Management.
• Verify physician privileges prior to transcribing orders.
• Arrange for the transport of patients for tests not offered in the hospital.
