A nonprofit founded in 1969 in Charlotte, North Carolina, we have since grown to be one of the largest providers of comprehensive substance use disorder treatment in western North Carolina. From initial assessment to customized aftercare, McLeod Centers provides compassionate, steadfast support for our patients’ journey to recovery. We are looking for passionate people to join our team!

McLeod Centers for Wellbeing is currently searching for a Full-time Medical Unit Secretary to work in its Residential program at its headquarters in Charlotte.

How will you help us achieve our mission? You will:

  • Perform general clerical duties such as filing, answering phones, and managing patient records.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Serve as a communication liaison between healthcare providers, patients, and visitors. Relay information between patients, doctors, nurses, and other team members.
  • Schedule patient appointments, diagnostic tests, and procedures as needed. Ensure accurate and efficient handling of scheduling.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date patient files and medical records. Ensure compliance with privacy and confidentiality regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Provide support to patients and their families by addressing inquiries, providing information, and assisting with needs related to patient care.
  • Monitor and maintain office supplies and ensure availability of necessary medical forms and documents for unit use.
  • Help facilitate the daily operations of the medical unit, ensuring smooth workflow and optimal support for the clinical team.

What are the qualifications needed for this role?

We're looking for a minimum High School diploma or equivalent; Previous experience in a medical office, healthcare setting, or administrative role highly preferred.
