Position Details

Note: This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests.
  2. Examine and analyze body fluids and cells; match blood for transfusions.
  3. Familiarity with the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) requirements for blood product maintenance.
  4. Analyze chemical content of fluids; test for drug levels in blood.
  5. Prepare specimens, count cells, and identify abnormal cells in blood and body fluids.
  6. Analyze test results and communicate findings to physicians.
  7. Culture body fluids and tissue samples to detect microorganisms.
  8. Analyze chemical content or reactions and determine concentrations of compounds like glucose and cholesterol.
  9. Evaluate test results, develop and modify procedures, and monitor programs to ensure test accuracy.
  10. Follow universal safety precautions to protect against biohazardous materials.
  11. Order and stock supplies; maintain a safe, clean work environment.
  12. Maintain patient records, operate and calibrate lab equipment, and manage lab schedules and purchases.
  13. Provide supervision and guidance to lab staff as Lead.
  14. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completed a formal Medical Technology training program leading to a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Certified by AMT, ASCP, or NCA.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • At least five years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
  • Minimum of one year in a Lead role.
  • Recent clinical experience in direct patient care within the last 6 months.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and computer skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and work flexible shifts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in English communication.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
  • Work primarily in an indoor/office environment.
  • Sitting and standing for extended periods.
