Under the direction of the Associate Medical Director, this position is responsible for supervision and development of the Specialists, Acute Care and Primary Care provider staff (MD, DO and NP) that includes scheduling, recruitment, corrective action and related personnel activities. This position provides a full range of support to all clinic areas. Responsible for medical care appropriate to level of training and board certification. Participates in a collaborative team approach with Nurse and Nutrition Manager, Medical Assistant Supervisor, Registration Supervisor and Clinical Operations Supervisor, along with all other clinic managers/supervisors and counseling managers/supervisors to coordinate clinic operations, staff schedules and patient flow systems. Available after hours/weekends/holidays for infrequent phone notification of and coordination of response to critical lab/radiology values.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Current licensure by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance.
  • Current Board certification in primary care area recognized by American Board of Medical Specialties (Family Practice or Internal Medicine).
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate with schedule II-V (or III-V, but must obtain II within 3 months of hire).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR within 30 days from date of hire.
  • Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
  • Recent experience in clinical practice (5 years).
  • Experience working with Practice Management Database and/or Electronic Medical Record system.
  • Supervision and management background to recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, resolve problems and conflicts and build an effective service-oriented team environment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with diverse individuals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current certification in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
  • Experience in college health.
  • Experience in sports medicine.
  • Experience in gender care.
  • Experience in and/or eating disorder care.
  • Teaching experience working with residents, students and nurses.

Department Overview

Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, acute care, laboratory, pharmacy, optometry, health education and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year. The mission is to provide campus health and wellness resources that enable students to successfully achieve their academic goals and life-long wellness. SHCS has approximately 200 staff including managers, senior professionals, professional and support staff, student employees, interns and post doc residents. SHCS is accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), IACS (International Association for Counseling Services), and APA (American Psychological Association). Work Environment

  • This Position is subject to Pre-Placement screening provided by Occupational Health services. This is done to meet federal, state and university requirements. Position may, at times, require employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.
