Job summary

Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH is seeking a Medical Technologist on a PRN basis to ensure high-quality, efficient care for patients in the laboratory. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Clinical Laboratory Science with ASCP eligibility and a possible ASCP certification.

You will perform instrument maintenance, quality control and LIS tasks, while maintaining effective communication with staff and patients. Parkland emphasizes support for growth and patient-centered service.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science with ASCP eligible certification or equivalent.
• Preferred: ASCP certified.

Responsibilities

• Know policies, procedures and practices necessary to carry out the normal functions of laboratory clinical areas.
• Make decisions and establish priorities on procedure-oriented operations. Work in an independent manner with limited supervision.
• Demonstrate initial and annual competency in designated lab sections, including phlebotomy as needed.
• Prioritize work to ensure completion within the assigned shift and within expected intervals, e.g. Stat, Routine, and timed specimens.
• Maintain constructive, open communication with other supervisors, co‑workers and customers, both internal and external.
• Demonstrate proficiency in all laboratory computer related tasks, including: email, corrected reports, correct documentation, faxing, add‑on tests and cancellations, creating and receiving site batches and all functions of the LIS.
• Perform and document instrument maintenance. Perform quality control according to established procedures. Troubleshoot instruments effectively.
• Possess an understanding of and ability to participate in Laboratory initiatives to include Quality Assurance, Safety Plans/Policies, Billing Compliance, Code of Conduct, and HIPAA requirements as they relate to the position, the laboratory department, and the facility.
• Promotes internal and external customer satisfaction
• Builds and promotes a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement
• Works as scheduled and is compliant with Attendance and Tardiness Policy
