Job summary

Centerpoint Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Medical Technologist PRN to join a generalist laboratory team. Responsibilities include performing tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology and more, while maintaining quality controls and accurate results.

New grads with certification or CLIA grandfathering are welcome; weekend and night shifts are required, with comprehensive benefits and ongoing education support provided by HCA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology is highly preferred.
• New grads may apply with proof of program completion, graduation date and ASCP/AMT cert.
• Bachelor's in laboratory science or related science or grandfathered under CLIA 88 are accepted.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical, bacteriological, serological, and microscopic procedures in one or more laboratory sections.
• Produce accurate results in hematology, serology, chemistry, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology and other areas as designated.
• Maintain quality results by running standards and controls, calibrating equipment, and monitoring QC measures.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) conducts routine and complex laboratory tests in Toxicology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Microbiology for use in patient diagnosis and treatment of disease. Join our team of dedicated professionals that is committed to delivering the best patient care.

What you will do in this role:

• This is considered a Generalist role.

• You will perform chemical, bacteriological, serological, and microscopic procedures in one or more laboratory sections.

• You will produce accurate results in hematology, serology, chemistry, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology and other areas as designated.

• You will maintain quality results by running standards and controls, calibrating equipment utilizing approved testing procedures, verifying equipment function through routine maintenance, and monitoring quality control measures and protocols.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology highly preferred.

• New grads considered with proof of the following: completion of program, graduation date, ASCP or AMT cert.

• Bachelor's degree in laboratory science or related science OR “Grandfathered” as a medical technologist by CLIA 88 are considered.

• MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA), MLS (ASCP) or, as appropriate, BB(ASCP), C(ASCP), I (ASCP), H(ASCP), or M(ASCP) certification or equivalent required OR registry/certification eligible.

• Registry/certification must be obtained before one year of hire.

• Hospital experience highly desired; experience in larger hospital settings desired.

• Experience in Microscopic examination, manual differentials, and Gram stain.

• Looking for candidates that are team players and are ready to jump in where needed.

• PRN requires OPEN availability, including nights and weekends.
