Job summary

The Medical Technologist - MT at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, TX provides laboratory services to patients in accordance with hospital standards of care. This per diem/flex role requires MLS/CLS credentials or a related degree and recent clinical lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related field or MLS/CLS credentials.
• Completion of approved training program for Medical Technologist preferred.
• Clinical laboratory setting experience within the last 10 years.

Responsibilities

• Maintains high degree of competency in operation of laboratory equipment, including troubleshooting, machine repair and preventive maintenance.
• Assists in quality assurance through variance reporting and participation in QC, performance improvement and proficiency testing.
• Facilitates communication within the Laboratory Department and with physicians to enhance patient care services.
• Demonstrates knowledge of Laboratory Services principles in diagnostic reporting and interpretation of results.
• Performs routine shift start-up, quality controls and instrumentation maintenance with proper documentation.
• Notifies physicians of corrected results promptly and notifies charge nurse of critical results with time-stamped documentation.
