In this role, you will perform and interpret tests at all complexity levels at Hillcrest Hospital. Using your understanding of laboratory science theories, technical skills, procedures, and problem-solving, you will contribute to determining the best care for patients. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to expand your knowledge through hands-on experience with leading researchers and specialists.

We hire our clinical laboratory testing personnel in three different job titles, based on educational background:

• Medical Technologist
• Med Lab Technician
• Lab Technician

Work hours: Days from 6:00AM - 2:30PM, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Ideal candidates in this role will:

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record maintenance.
• Maintain regulatory knowledge related to their duties.
• Adhere to quality control policies, document activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
• Address quality issues proactively and take corrective actions.
• Maintain instruments and equipment per manufacturer specifications.
• Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping.
• Perform proficiency testing in compliance with CLIA regulations, analyzing proficiency survey samples accurately.
• Engage in continuing education, professional development, and annual competency assessments.
• Follow established policies and procedures, especially when test systems are out of performance ranges.
• Identify and report problems affecting test performance or results.
• May serve as an educator, providing training on laboratory tests, safety protocols, and technical skills.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field OR meet CLIA high complexity testing qualifications.
• State of Florida license at the technologist level.
• Licenses in Microbiology, Immunohematology, or other relevant areas.

Preferred qualifications:

• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT, MLT, or MLS) or eligible for certification from ASCP.

• Ability to distinguish colors.
• Fine motor skills and manual dexterity for handling specimens and equipment.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Light lifting may be required.
• Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, and radioactive materials.
