Job summary

Mercy Medical Center, Inc. is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform technical procedures for emergency and routine patient testing, with emphasis on quality control. The role includes eligibility to qualify as a General Supervisor per CLIA when the manager is unavailable and requires work in the Blood Bank.

Preferred candidates hold a B.S. in chemistry/biology or a related lab science with substantial coursework, or an accredited MT/MLS program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or a lab-based science with 60 semester hours of medical lab technology courses or ABHES/NAACLS accredited.
• Alternatively, a B.S. with an accredited MT/MLS program or equivalent ABHES/NAACLS accreditation.
• ASCP MT/MLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical procedures for emergency and routine patient testing with independence.
• Maintain quality control and participate in quality management processes as needed.
• Possess General Supervisor designation per CLIA in absence of supervisor.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the independent performance of technical procedures, including emergency and routine patient testing, quality control, and preventive maintenance. Participates in Quality management processes as needed. Qualifies as a General Supervisor designate, per CLIA, in the absence of the Section Supervisor or Manager. This position requires working in the Blood Bank.

Requirements

• Preferred: A B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory based Science degree that includes 60 semester hours of medical lab technology courses or other sciences as specified by CLIA; OR a B.S. and successful completion of an accredited MT/MLS program; OR a B.S in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory based Science including a Laboratory training program or accredited by the ABHES, NAACLS
• Required: An Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Science with a minimum of 2-5 years experience
• M.T. or MLS (ASCP) preferred
