The role requires a bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a biological/chemical science; ASCP certification is preferred but not required. Supervisory duties may be involved within the lab.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or biological/chemical sciences from an accredited college or university.
  • ASCP Certification preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of standardized laboratory tests across clinical chemistry, immunology, hematology, microbiology, molecular microbiology and urinalysis.
  • Operates automated testing platforms and immunoassay analyzers; performs complex tests with pipettors, dilutors, spectrophotometers and microscopes.
  • Maintains and documents quality control activities, instrument calibrations and maintenance.
  • Validates, reports and records patient test results; ensures proper specimen handling and analysis.
  • Shipping and handling of dangerous goods.
  • Assists lower-level staff and provides technical guidance when needed.
  • Adheres to policies for quality assurance and safety.
