Job summary

Memorial Health System in Ohio is seeking a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform specimen testing, operate automated and manual instruments, and report results to physicians with strict confidentiality.

You will obtain specimens, oversee instrument maintenance, perform QC and proficiency testing, train students and new staff, and contribute to process improvement while following MHS Standards of Excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or related field required.
• ASCP MLS/MT (or equivalent) Board of Registry certification required or eligible within 1 year.
• If working at a West Virginia site, must be licensed in WV within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen testing (manual and automated) and operates laboratory instruments.
• Obtains specimens for analysis in hospital and off-site locations.
• Oversees maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and procedures.
• Performs QC, calibrations, and proficiency testing as required by guidelines.
• Reviews and signs electronic document control records as assigned.
• Utilizes Meditech to create site batches for specimen transport.
• Directs and trains students and new lab employees in procedures and operation of instruments.
• Replenishes supplies and maintains stock in working area.
