Job summary

North Shore Medical Center is seeking a Medical Technologist for first shift in Florida. The role involves performing manual and automated blood tests, preparing specimens, and operating key laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate holds a Florida license and has strong knowledge of lab workflows.

Qualifications include a B.S. in Medical Technology (or related) and 1 year hospital lab experience. Rotations through Microbiology and other departments are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year hospital experience preferred in the field.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and automated routine blood tests and prepare specimens for analysis.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (centrifuges, incubators, refrigerators) and perform quality control.
• Analyze body fluids and exudates and record results.
• Rotate through Microbiology, blood bank, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, and urinalysis.
• Post tests findings and prepare reports.

Medical Technologist

Job Summary

Performs manual and automated routine blood tests. Prepares specimens for microscope examination. Operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to supervisor or manager. Requires graduation from an accredited MLT program and passing a national exam given by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Performs analysis of body fluids and exudates. Performs various chemical procedures on specimens using several laboratory equipment. Performs quality control procedures, linearities, instrument checks and maintenance of instruments. Records workload and other statistics. Calculates and tabulates results and makes reports of observations. Post tests findings.

Generalist position with emphasis on Microbiology and rotations through blood bank, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, and urinalysis.

Performs manual and automated routine blood tests.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Position is for 1st shift/days.

Rotating holidays and weekends.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Bachelor of Science with a chemical, physical or biologic science as a major subject and

minimum one year training in a clinical laboratory or associate in arts in Medical Laboratory Science with a full semester of hospital training.

Minimum 1 year in hospital experience preferred in the field.

Required licensures/certifications Experience

Current Florida license as a Medical Technologist in all specialties
