Job summary

Florida Medical Center seeks a Generalist Medical Laboratory Technologist/MLT to rotate through blood bank, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, microbiology and urinalysis. You will perform manual and automated routine blood tests, prepare specimens for microscopy, and operate lab equipment with guidance from senior staff.

The ideal candidate has completed an accredited MLT/MLS program and passed a national exam such as ASCP or equivalent, with Florida licensure.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited MLT/MLS program.
• Passing a national exam by ASCP or equivalent.
• Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license.

Responsibilities

Job description

Generalist position rotating through all departments: blood bank, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, basic microbiology and urinalysis. Performs manual and automated routine blood tests. Prepares specimens for microscope examination. Operates laboratory equipment and performs a variety of tasks. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to supervisor or manager. Requires graduation from an accredited MLT/MLS program and passing a national exam given by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within medical laboratory field. 3 months experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/YEARS OF RELATED EXPERIENCE:

• Preferred: 2-4

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

• Current/Active Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (TN)
• Education: Technical School/4 Years College/Bachelor's Degree
• Good verbal and written communication skills required.
• Basic computer skills required.
