Requires a Bachelor degree from an accredited university or college in Medical Technology or Clinical Lab Sciences. Requires a minimum of 3 years of clinical lab experience, with a preference for 5 years. Certification by ASCP or NCA as a Med Technologist, Med Technician, or microbiology categorical or specialty certification is preferred.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Technical Supervisor, provides support for clinical activities by performing and interpreting moderate and high complexity laboratory tests as defined under CLIA ‘88.

Position Details
  • Perform moderate and high complexity tests after specialized training and experience.
  • Interpret tests and act as a resource for laboratory users.
  • Review testing procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Prioritize STAT and routine samples.
  • Ensure specimen identification and labeling accuracy.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure sample appropriateness and obtain approvals for deviations.
  • Perform tests within defined time limits.
  • Handle mislabeled or inappropriate specimens appropriately.
  • Alert about specimen or patient identification issues.
  • Store samples per SOP.
  • Accessions tests as needed.
  • Perform equipment maintenance and recognize issues.
  • Conduct QC procedures and assess data.
  • Perform analytic testing and interpret results.
  • Maintain accurate records and document activities.
  • Review and transcribe patient results into LIS accurately.
  • Notify of critical values and document accordingly.
  • Maintain proficiency in LIS functions.
  • Participate in QA activities and ongoing education.
  • Support training of students and new staff.
  • Participate in departmental committees and safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean and stocked work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field with clinical internship.
  • Certification by ASCP, NCA, or equivalent preferred.
Experience
  • 2 years in clinical laboratory for Bachelor’s in Chemistry, Biology, or Biochemistry.
  • 1 year in clinical laboratory for Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science degree.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of high complexity testing and regulatory standards.
  • Manual dexterity and communication skills.

Work is onsite, 40 hours weekly, during 1st shift with rotating weekends and holidays. No remote work.
