Job description

Overview

Performs routine and specialized laboratory tests and procedures for diagnosing and treating diseases. Utilizes equipment, instruments, and computer systems effectively. Evaluates and reports patient results independently within established testing methods. Performs quality control and maintains laboratory equipment, supplies, and facilities. Assists in developing and implementing new procedures and instrumentation. May oversee laboratory projects such as performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory compliance, staff development, and computer systems. Trains new employees and students, serving as a resource for less experienced staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Licensure

Preferred: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certification or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel Certification
Education

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or completed NAACLS-accredited program recognized by ASCP for MLT qualification.
Within 6 months of hire, must obtain certification/licensure if not already obtained.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a related field with certification/licensure required.
Experience

Preferred: 2 years of clinical laboratory experience involving moderate and high complexity testing.
