Job summary

Cayuga Health, a member of Centralus Health, is hiring a Medical Technologist for a full-time on-site position in the Ithaca, NY region. The role includes 12-hour shifts, every weekend plus one day during the week, with hours 9:00am–9:00pm or 7:00am–7:00pm.

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology and ASCP or equivalent certification; NYS CL licensed candidates preferred. Prior lab experience is advantageous; excellent attention to detail and communication are

Responsibilities

• Analyze and test specimens, including proficiency testing and manual procedures, and report appropriately according to protocol.
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot complex equipment
• Utilize complex information systems; collect and interpret data
• Perform and interpret quality control
• Maintain a compliant environment, including adherence to all lab and hospital procedures, NYS, TJC, HIPAA standards, infection control and safety guidelines
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities and maintain inter-and intra-departmental workflow by cooperating with others
• Maintain adequate inventory and conserve resources

Roles And Responsibilities

Required Skills And Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent) and Registered as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
• Licensure: Meets NYS Department of Health requirements and is currently licensed as a Clinical Lab Scientist
• Experience: Prior laboratory experience is preferred.

• Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred
• Good written and oral communication skills preferred.
• Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.

Physical Requirements

• May require light lifting and carrying, including boxes, equipment, stooping and kneeling, maybe required to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Repetitive use of hands (eg. computer keyboard usage), sitting, walking or standing for long periods of time is often necessary; must be able physically to operate automation used in the job.

Location and Travel Requirements

• Shift: Options - 12 hour shift.

Pay Range Disclosure

• Standard Rate of $33.75 to $47.50 per hour
