Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• ASCP certification preferred (not required)
• Prior lab experience and knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized testing and procedures with supervision as appropriate.
• Operate laboratory instruments, record results, and perform quality control and instrument checks.
• Identify microorganisms in various specimens to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
• Group, type, and determine compatibility of blood samples.
• Conduct chemical and immunological tests on blood and body fluids.
• Analyze blood and body fluid cells, perform coagulation testing.
• Prepare tissue specimens, perform staining and immunohistochemical testing.
• Maintain laboratory reagents and solutions.
• Train staff in laboratory procedures.
• Consult with medical staff on laboratory matters.
• Participate in research and evaluate new laboratory methods.
• Manage data entry and retrieval from computer systems.
