Job summary

ScionHealth is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician for the Kindred Hospital Rancho location. The role conducts routine and specialized tests to aid diagnosis and monitoring, and performs specimen collection with care and accuracy.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences field, valid state license if required, and 1–2 years of acute hospital lab experience in high complexity testing preferred. Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Performs analyses in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, blood bank and microbiology according to expected performance standards.
• Performs venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick on identified patients by physician's request in a timely, accurate and caring manner.
• Keeps documented records current regarding maintenance and quality control.
• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Adhere to quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance or reporting and correct or report them promptly.
• Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
