Job summary

Kindred Hospital Rancho is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform routine and special laboratory tests on clinical specimens to aid in diagnosis and monitoring. Under general supervision, you will support hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, blood bank and microbiology in a 55-bed long-term acute care hospital.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological science, or medical technology, and 1-2 years of acute care lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• Current license issued by the State in which the laboratory is located, if such licensing is required.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by a nationally recognized agency/board preferred.
• 1-2 years of acute care hospital lab experience in high complexity testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs analyses in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, blood bank and microbiology.
• Performs venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick on identified patients by physician's request in a timely, accurate and caring manner.
• Keeps documented records current regarding maintenance and quality control.
• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
