The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Medical Technician - Phlebotomist for the CW Bill Young Medical Center in Bay Pines, FL. The incumbent serves as a Medical Technician - Phlebotomist at the CW Bill Young Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Bay Pines, FL, within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service. The role involves assisting Medical Technologists, Supervisors, and Managers in specimen collection, examination, receipt, processing, shipment procedures, and performing phlebotomy in inpatient and outpatient settings.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), proficiency in basic written and spoken English is required for direct patient care positions.
Selective Placement Factor: Experience performing phlebotomy/blood draws on human patients.
To qualify at the GS-5 level, you must meet one of the following:
You will be evaluated on competencies including Computer Skills, Customer Service, Patient Care, Quality Assurance, and Specimen Collection.
Note: A full year of work is considered 35-40 hours per week. All experience must include start/end dates. Volunteer work is also credited.
Physical Requirements: The role may involve lifting, standing, bending, prolonged standing, digital dexterity, and visual acuity for venipuncture. Safety practices must be followed, and physical assistance may be required for patients.
