Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technician for Burlington Hospital in South Jersey. The role analyzes biological specimens such as blood and body fluids, performing moderate to high complexity testing with strict adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities include validation of results, quality control, phlebotomy preparation, and maintaining equipment. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential for serving Virtua customers in a community hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Externship of 4–6 months with good interpersonal and time management skills.
• Associate's degree in laboratory science required.
• Valid registration as a Medical Lab Technician or CLIA high-complexity qualification; ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity testing accurately according to established procedures.
• Post-analytically validates results and investigates deviations.
• Performs quality control and pre-analytical processes including phlebotomy and specimen labeling.
• Operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment.

Location: Burlington Hospital - 218 A Sunset Rd Remote Type: On-Site Employment Type: Employee Employment Classification: Regular Time Type: Part time Work Shift: 2nd Shift (United States of America) Total Weekly Hours: 20 Additional Locations: Job Information: Blood Bank experience required. Work Schedule: Evenings as needed from 3:00pm to 11:00pm. Every other weekend required. Summary: Analyzes, interprets, and validates laboratory procedures of various complexities on biological material such as blood, body fluids, and tissues for Virtua customers.

Position Responsibilities:

• Performs moderate and high complexity testing accurately and precisely according to established procedure without direct supervision.
• Post analytically, validates results using established indicators, investigates deviations from the norm, recognizes trends or shifts, and applies corrective action.
• Perform, reviews and documents all quality control according to established policies and procedures. Performs pre-analytical processes including patient ID, phlebotomy, specimen labeling, specimen verification, receipt and shipment.
• Correctly operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment as required.
• Provides Outstanding Customer Service by demonstrating effective and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

• Externship- 4-6 months, good interpersonal and time management skills.

Required Education:

Associate's degree in laboratory science area.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

Valid registration as a Medical Lab Technician or equivalent or meets CLIA '88 educational requirements for high complexity testing. ASCP certification preferred.

Hourly Rate:

$30.37 - $47.20 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
