Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Laboratory Technician to analyze, interpret, and validate procedures on biological materials for Virtua customers. The role covers moderate to high complexity testing and strict adherence to procedures.

You will perform pre-analytical processes, ensure quality control, and maintain equipment while delivering excellent service in a patient-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Externship: 4–6 months with good interpersonal and time management skills.
• Required Education: Associate's degree in laboratory science area.
• Training/Certifications/Licensure: Valid registration as a Medical Lab Technician or equivalent; CLIA high complexity testing education.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity testing accurately and without direct supervision.
• Post-analytically validates results, investigates deviations, and applies corrective action.
• Performs, reviews and documents all quality control and pre-analytical processes (patient ID, phlebotomy, labeling, verification, receipt).
• Operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment as required.
• Provides outstanding customer service through effective communication.

Every third Friday and every third weekend rotating. 12-hour night from 7:00pm to 7:00am.

Summary:

Analyzes, interprets, and validates laboratory procedures of various complexities on biological material such as blood, body fluids, and tissues for Virtua customers.

Position Responsibilities:

• Performs moderate and high complexity testing accurately and precisely according to established procedure without direct supervision.
• Post analytically, validates results using established indicators, investigates deviations from the norm, recognizes trends or shifts, and applies corrective action.
• Performs, reviews and documents all quality control according to established policies and procedures. Performs pre-analytical processes including patient ID, phlebotomy, specimen labeling, specimen verification, receipt and shipment.
• Correctly operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment as required.
• Provides Outstanding Customer Service by demonstrating effective and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

• Externship- 4-6 months, good interpersonal and time management skills.
• Required Education: Associate's degree in laboratory science area.
• Training/Certifications/Licensure: Valid registration as a Medical Lab Technician or equivalent or meets CLIA '88 educational requirements for high complexity testing. ASCP certification preferred.
• Hourly Rate: $30.37 - $47.20 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
