Job summary

Virtua Health in Marlton, NJ is seeking a Medical Lab Technician or Medical Technologist for a second-shift, part-time/per diem position on site. The role covers testing of blood, body fluids, and tissues with weekend requirements and on-site hours.

Responsibilities include accurate moderate to high complexity testing, post-analytic validation, QC documentation, pre-analytical processing, and reliable equipment operation. AASCP is preferred; an Associate’s degree is required.

Qualifications

• Externship 4–6 months with good interpersonal and time management.
• Associate’s degree in laboratory science area is required.
• Valid registration as MLT or meets CLIA88 for high complexity; ASCP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity testing accurately according to procedures.
• Post-analytically validates results, investigates deviations, and applies corrective action.
• Performs, reviews, and documents all quality control per policies.
• Performs pre-analytical processes including patient ID, phlebotomy, labeling, verification.
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment as required.
• Delivers outstanding customer service with effective communication.

Summary

Analyzes, interprets, and validates laboratory procedures of various complexities on biological material such as blood, body fluids, and tissues for Virtua customers.

Position Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity testing accurately and precisely according to established procedure without direct supervision.
• Post analytically, validates results using established indicators, investigates deviations from the norm, recognizes trends or shifts, and applies corrective action.
• Performs, reviews and documents all quality control according to established policies and procedures.
• Performs pre-analytical processes including patient ID, phlebotomy, specimen labeling, specimen verification, receipt and shipment.
• Correctly operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment as required.
• Provides Outstanding Customer Service by demonstrating effective and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required

Externship- 4-6 months, good interpersonal and time management skills

Required Education

Associate’s degree in laboratory science area.

Training/Certifications/Licensure

Valid registration as a Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent or meets CLIA88 requirements for high complexity testing.

ASCP certification preferred.

Hourly Rate

$38.50
