Job summary

Concentra, Inc. in Windsor, CT is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our patient care team.

You will perform routine medical procedures under supervision, support registration and referral management, and deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have completed a medical assistant program or have direct patient care experience, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and be committed to HIPAA and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, OR at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant, OR military medical specialist experience.
• At least six months or more of medical assistant experience.
• Knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology.
• Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
• Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and ancillary testing.
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.).
• Assist providers during examination and treatment.
• Triage emergent patients and perform routine medical procedures as ordered by clinician.
• Prepare and assist clinician with procedure setup and injury care.
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by clinician.
• Dispense medications and DME as ordered by clinician in accordance with state regulations.
• Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms.
• Notify supervisor if equipment malfunctioning or supplies needed.
• Assist with patient flow and keep patients informed of wait times.
• Front office duties: check in/out, authorization, wait times, multi-line phone, paperwork distribution.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
• Attend staff meetings/huddles and trainings.
• Maintain neat and orderly facility appearance.
• Complete any applicable training including monthly clinical competency training.
