Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Southfield, MI seeks a Medical Support Assistant to support providers in an ambulatory care setting. Under supervision, you will greet and escort patients, obtain histories, record vital signs, and help prepare for examinations and procedures.

You will also monitor patient requests, respond to messages, and assist with emergencies per clinic protocols, contributing to high-quality, compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; at least one year of related experience preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred.
• Ability to problem-solve preferred.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patient to room and prepares patient for examination, procedure, and treatment.
• Obtain vital signs.
• Obtain and record patient history employing critical thinking skills.
• Prepare for, set up and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments per protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies.
• Actively monitor and respond timely to patient requests via telephone encounter, In Basket message and/or My Chart according to identified time frames.
• Discharge patient providing after visit instructions to patient and/or caregiver as directed by the provider.
