Job summary

Henry Ford Health seeks a Medical Support Assistant for the Float Pool (PRN) in Metro-Detroit, MI. The role involves greeting and escorting patients, collecting histories, taking vital signs, and assisting providers during examinations and procedures.

Under supervision, the incumbent will perform clerical and basic clinical tasks, monitor for emergencies, and respond to patient requests via telephone, messages, or MyChart, contributing to compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of related experience preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills related to ambulatory patient care preferred.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patient to exam room and prepare for examination/procedure.
• Obtain vital signs and record patient information.
• Obtain and document patient history using critical thinking.
• Assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments per protocols.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies promptly.
• Monitor patient requests via phone, MyChart, or messages and respond timely.
