Job summary

Wayne State University is seeking an experienced University Counselor III to provide academic and personal counseling for around 200 medical students from matriculation through graduation at the Detroit campus.

You will work with individuals and groups to support emotional health, academic success, and career advising, while contributing to health and wellness initiatives and serving on university committees.

Qualifications

• Minimum Master’s degree required in counseling and guidance, student personnel, social work and/or psychology.
• Doctorate Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic and personal counseling for approximately 200 medical students from matriculation through graduation.
• Advise students individually and in groups on emotional health, academic success, professional development and career planning.
• Assist in developing and evaluating health and wellness programming for medical students.
• Represent the Office of Student Affairs and Career Development on School of Medicine and university committees.
