Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Medical Staff Coordinator to ensure qualified physicians provide care in the hospital. The role requires processing applications and supporting the Medical Staff with administrative duties. Candidates should have a High School Diploma and relevant experience combined with strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Apply locations GBMC Hospital time type Full time posted on Posted 16 Days Ago job requisition id JR104015 Under general supervision, processes applications for initial appointment and reappointment to the Medical Staff, as well as applications for interim/temporary privileges for non-Staff members in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, hospital policies, JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) and NCQA (National Commission on Quality Assurance) standards, and State and Federal regulations to assure that only qualified physicians provide care in the hospital.

Education

High School Diploma required. Associate’s Degree preferred or combination of education and credentialing experience.

Experience

A minimum of wo (2) years experience in a credentialing office is required to understand the complexities of credentialing and responsibilities of the Medical Staff Office as it relates to the management of the Medical Staff organization as seen through the actions of its officers, departments, committees, and members.

Skills

  • Strong organization skills to be able to track applications in the various stages of the credentialing process and to maintain a large number of credentials files.
  • Strong analytical skills to be able to determine the need for and to find the means/source to effectively gather further information, documentation, and/or clarification on an application.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to be able to speak and write in a clear, concise manner so that information requested and disseminated is easily understood.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

Licensures, Certifications

  • Certification by the National Association Medical Staff Services as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist preferred

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Processes all applications for appointment to the Medical Staff thoroughly on a timely basis. Ensure that all pertinent information/credentials are obtained for appropriate departmental and committee review in accordance with the requirements of the Medical Staff Bylaws, hospital policies, JCAHO and NCQA standards, and Federal and State regulations.
  • Coordinates and monitor applications through the various stages of the credentialing
  • process.
  • Processes applications for interim/temporary privileges for non-Staff members in accordance with the established policy.
  • Provides secretarial and administrative support to the Medical Staff organization and its Committee such as scheduling meetings, recording minutes, and composing correspondence.
  • Develops procedures for completion of surveys, studies, and reports, as called for or as assigned

Pay Range

$21.27 - $36.00

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
