Position Overview:
The Office of Medical Affairs and Governance provides credentialing services for the Client Health System and is responsible for privileging, governance, and health plan enrollment for the Health System, including the Community Hospitals division.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing ED Call Schedule and managing committee meetings, including minutes, agendas, and scheduling.
- Screening and pre-vetting applicants, ensuring all credentialing data is accurate and complete.
- Entering and maintaining provider data in credentialing systems (Cactus, ECHO).
- Auditing completed credentialing applications and routing files for departmental approval.
- Preparing credentialing files for committee review/approval and ensuring compliance with bylaws and accreditation standards (TJC, NCQA, CMS, state/federal regulations).
- Assisting with OPPE/FPPE competency data and tracking expiring licenses/certifications.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring systems to facilitate medical staff services and credentialing.
- Processing applications and verifying physician licensing and certifications.
- Supporting medical staff meetings and peer review activities.
- Acting as liaison between medical staff and hospital departments to coordinate activities.
- Monitoring compliance with bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Building partnerships with department management, medical staff, and hospital leadership to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Handling onboarding, revenue channel disruptions, and auditing functions per standards.
- Facilitating committees and performance improvement efforts.
- Implementing policies, providing training, and supporting best practices.
- Managing credentialing and privileging processes, including pre-application intake, file review, compliance monitoring, reappointment, and licensure management.
- Serving as a resource for credentialing committees and preparing agendas, minutes, reports, and correspondence.
- Coordinating credentialing requests and maintaining effective communication with medical staff and hospital departments.
- Providing administrative support and managing large projects to ensure process efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in credentialing, compliance, audit, or healthcare administration.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management.
- Strong analytical, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with community hospital medical staff offices, committee management, ED Call Schedule, ECHO, and Cactus systems.
- Certifications: Must obtain CPCS or CPMSM.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and internal policies, with problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively across departments.
- Thorough knowledge of data management and credentialing software.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in a community hospital setting.
- Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements (TJC, NCQA, CMS, etc.).
- Proficiency in Cactus and ECHO systems.
