Job summary

Integrated ENT Allergy & Immunology in the Town of Islip, NY seeks a detail-oriented medical scribe/assistant to support clinicians during patient visits. You will document encounters in the EMR, prepare exam rooms, and assist with procedures, while ensuring accuracy and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of EMR experience.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Excellent written documentation and typing skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Accompany providers during patient visits and accurately document encounters in the EMR in real time.
• Record HPI, ROS, exam findings, assessment, plan, and follow-up instructions as directed.
• Document laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic results in the medical record.
• Enter orders for labs, procedures, referrals, and medications as instructed.
• Process prescription refills per provider instructions.
• Enter billing information based on services provided during visits.
• Prepare patients for examination and ensure exam rooms are ready for use.
• Maintain exam rooms by stocking supplies and cleaning equipment.
• Assist providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments as appropriate.
• Observe and communicate patient concerns or changes in condition to the provider.
• Educate patients on medications, diagnostics, and treatment plans.
• Instruct patients on specimen collection for tests when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, complete patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Coordinate multiple encounters efficiently with attention to detail.
• Report equipment issues or safety concerns to supervisors.
• Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and policies.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and admin to ensure efficient care.
