Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking a detail-oriented medical scribe to accompany physicians during patient encounters and document accurately in the EHR. You will transcribe histories, exams, orders, and procedures, ensuring clear, compliant notes and efficient patient flow.

The ideal candidate has strong medical terminology knowledge, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical setting, with HIPAA awareness and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to distinguish exams/diagnoses.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Accompany physician into exam room and transcribe history and physical.
• Document physician's encounter accurately in the EHR.
• Transcribe patient orders (labs, radiology, meds, etc.).
• Greet patients professionally and manage confidential information per HIPAA.
• Attend required meetings and document procedures performed.
• List diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as dictated.
• Add Chief Complaints to ECW.
• Maintain patient flow and improve care coordination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Accompany physician into the patient examination room in order to transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the physician’s encounter with the patient and others presentGreets all patients in a professional and friendly manner.Perform documentation in EHR software for physicians for all patientsHandles confidential material while protecting its strict confidentiality under HIPPA guidelinesSpeak clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and convey information whileTranscribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etcAttends and participates in meetings as required.Document any procedures performed by the physicianList all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.Add Chief Complaints to ECWOther duties as assigned.High School Diploma or equivalentAbility to work with people of diverse cultural, educational, social, and economic backgrounds.Detailed knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to distinguish different exams and medical diagnosesAbility to work independently and a self-starter with minimal supervisionExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsComputer proficiencyThey must have exceptional organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.Experience utilizing an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system is highly desirableBilingual preferredObtain CPR within two weeks of hire
