Come and join our team! We are a local growing private medical practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with diseases of the retina and vitreous. We are looking for individuals who would like to establish a career in healthcare working with nationally recognized physicians. We provide on-the-job training, giving you the ability to grow and advance your skills along with gaining innovative knowledge. Established in 1977, we have locations all over Northern California including Sacramento, Grass Valley, Roseville, Stockton, Modesto, Merced, Fairfield, Elk Grove, Folsom, Yuba City, and Chico. Our physicians are nationally known, and we continue to be on the leading edge of retina care by utilizing the latest equipment and participating in and designing new clinical trials to advance the state of care for retinal diseases. Join over 250 team members working for our nationally recognized retina specialty practice in a fast-paced, high-volume medical office.

We seek a full-time Scribe to support our team. Although you must be able to work independently, you will work directly with physicians, patients, and clinical and business office staff. Collaboration and being a team player are essential. This position requires travel to other locations as needed. Monday - Friday, with some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

1. Act as physician extender
2. Answer patient questions
3. Ensure documentation is signed and complete
4. Perform 'spot audit' visits, knowing required documents for billing and ensuring completeness
5. Manage prescription refills
6. Maintain weekly replacement of Cidex and keep calendar updated
7. Complete forms for physicians, including lab, radiology, and surgery paperwork
8. Ensure HPI is completed
9. Demonstrate application of proper ocular dressings and shields

Requirements

• Type quickly and accurately in EHR, with correct spelling
• Basic knowledge of ocular anatomy and physiology
• Knowledge of ophthalmic pharmacology, including types, strengths, actions, indications, contraindications, and possible complications of anesthetics, mydriatics, cycloplegics, miotics, epinephrine, beta blockers, steroids, NSAIDs, and antibiotics
• Understanding of common retinal diagnoses and associated treatments
• Familiarity with physician preferences for procedures, treatment plans, imaging, and follow-up
• Fundamentals of asepsis
• Understanding surgical management of retinal surgeries, such as detachment repair, tears, macular holes, etc.
• Knowledge of CPT codes, billable diagnoses, and documentation for billing

Physical Requirements

• Sitting and viewing a computer screen for extended periods
• Keyboarding for extended periods
• Standing or walking up to 75% of the time
• Lifting, reaching, and bending often
• Close visual acuity for viewing monitors and accuracy

Additional Details

Position is full-time, entry level, in healthcare industry, with some travel required. The role involves supporting ophthalmic clinical documentation and patient interaction in a fast-paced environment.
