Position Summary

The primary role of the Medical Scribe is to relieve the practitioner of clerical and secretarial duties, allowing them to focus on clinical care. The scribe is an unlicensed, non-clinical individual who does not examine patients or engage in patient care. Their role is limited to documentation and efficiency management. Must be able to travel to satellite offices (except Yuma).

Position Duties

• Assist the practitioner with navigating the Electronic Health Record (EHR), locate information, and research as requested.
• Accompany the practitioner during patient interviews and examinations without interjecting observations.
• Document patient history, physical examination findings, laboratory and radiographic results as dictated.
• Ensure documentation accuracy, review, amend, and sign charts; practitioner is responsible for final documentation.
• Make "chart rounds" with the practitioner to review patient status and care issues.
• Ensure all documentation is reviewed and authenticated before leaving the patient care area.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as requested.
