The purpose of a Medical Scribe at Oak Street Health is to support primary care providers with clinical documentation, allowing them to focus on delivering exceptional patient care. Scribes assist throughout the patient care journey, including planning, observing, documenting, and supporting post-visit activities.
These team members are also known as CISs (Clinic Informatics Specialists) and play a crucial role in accurate, timely clinical documentation. They become experts in our value-based care model, chronic condition management, ICD-10, and CPT coding, helping to identify and close care gaps. Extensive training is provided in clinical workflows, preventative care, documentation, and population health data streams.
Ideal candidates should commit at least 1-2 years to this role. It is a valuable opportunity for pre-med students, those interested in health informatics, public health, healthcare administration, medical coding, and related fields.
