Position Summary
The Medical Scribe supports providers in a clinical setting by efficiently and accurately documenting patient encounters in real-time. Working in a pain management clinic, the scribe plays a key role in ensuring thorough and precise records of complex medical histories, pain assessments, treatment plans, and interventional procedures. The ideal candidate has a strong medical vocabulary, keen attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type – Full Time

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Accurately and promptly document provider-patient encounters, including history of present illness (HPI), review of systems (ROS), physical exam findings, assessments, and treatment plans.
  2. Record details of interventional pain procedures such as epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, spinal cord stimulators, etc.
  3. Document discussions of imaging studies, lab results, and prescriptions.
  4. Input data into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  5. Ensure documentation meets legal and ethical standards and is completed in a timely manner.
  6. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  7. Assist with preparing patient charts for upcoming visits.
  8. Track and follow up on provider orders such as labs, imaging, and referrals.
  9. Collaborate with providers, physicians, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of a High School diploma; Associate degree preferred.
  2. Prior experience as a medical scribe or in a clinical setting is strongly preferred.
  3. Familiarity with medical terminology, especially related to pain management, neurology, and orthopedics.
  4. Excellent typing speed and accuracy (recommended: 60+ WPM).
  5. Proficient with EMR systems and Microsoft Office.
  6. Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a clinical environment.
  7. Strong communication and organizational skills.
  8. Commitment to patient confidentiality and professional integrity.
