Medical Screener - Reception Technician (Customer Service)

Overview

Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for plasma pheresis. Reports to the Assistant Center Manager.

Responsibilities

1. Assist qualified donors in completing screening processes, including health history assessment, medical questions, and health screening procedures (blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature, finger stick for hematocrit and protein levels).
2. Educate new donors about plasma products, screening process, health tests, appointment system, donation fees, policies, nutrition, and answer donor questions professionally.
3. Register and transfer donors as trained, based on operational needs.
4. Answer phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
5. Monitor donors during and after pheresis for reactions and notify staff if needed.
6. Report donor flow issues to supervisors.
7. Accurately record donor data in electronic systems following SOPs.
8. Understand policies related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
9. Maintain a clean, safe work environment and ensure supplies are available.
10. Follow all HSE and OSHA policies, promote safety, and maintain confidentiality.
11. Cross-train in other areas as needed and utilize bilingual skills if required.
12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum 3 months in clerical or customer service, preferably in medical or health environment, or equivalent education and experience. Basic math skills required.

Working Conditions

• Follow instructions and guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with customers and observe equipment.
• Stand and walk frequently, reach, bend, kneel, and perform manual tasks.
• Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with potential exposure to hazards and blood-borne pathogens.
