Job Description Summary

Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process.

Job Responsibilities

1. Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process, including assessing health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff, and performing health screenings such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature. Perform finger sticks to obtain samples for hematocrit and total protein levels.
2. Educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma, explaining the screening process, health tests, appointment system, donation fees, policies, nutrition, and other relevant information. Ensure all donor questions are answered professionally and promptly.
3. Register applicants and transfer donors as needed, upon completion of training and based on operational needs.
4. Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to appropriate staff.
5. Monitor donors during and after the pheresis process for reactions and notify staff if necessary.
6. Alert supervisors of donor flow issues.
7. Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system as per SOPs.
8. Understand policies related to hyperimmune programs if applicable.
9. Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring supplies are available, and follow all health and safety policies, including OSHA and HSE guidelines.
10. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
11. Cross-train in other areas as needed and utilize bilingual skills if required.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three months experience in clerical, customer service, or health-related roles, or equivalent education and experience.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations.

Working Conditions

• Follow instructions and guidelines effectively.
• Ability to see, speak with customers, and observe equipment operation.
• Stand and walk up to 100% of the time, with manual dexterity required for reaching, bending, and kneeling.
• Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
• Exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens; wear PPE as required.
• Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
