Job Description Summary

This position focuses on disease states (e.g., prostate cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, etc.) treated by Novartis' Radioligand Therapies.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role is a field-based, customer-facing, non-promotional medical and scientific position. The key objective is to impact clinical practice within the assigned territory to improve patient outcomes. The MSL must demonstrate deep therapeutic expertise, understand territory and market influences, engage scientifically with Healthcare Providers (HCPs) and medical experts, manage and develop their territory, and execute activities aligned with the medical strategic and tactical plan, while adhering to Novartis' Code of Conduct, Ethics/Compliance policies, and Working Practice documents. The MSL will inform and shape medical strategy by collecting impactful insights, understanding their strategic implications.

This territory covers DC, DE, East VA, and MD. The preferred residence for the candidate is in the greater DC area, within 50 miles of the territory border. Relocation is not available.

Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. The MSL will leverage scientific expertise and market knowledge to establish and build professional relationships with HCPs and thought leaders in the area, aligned with the medical strategy.
  2. The primary responsibility is to engage with customers through discussions on emerging data, clinical trials, patient journey barriers, market dynamics, unmet medical needs, pipeline updates, disease state and product education, adverse event capture, and medical insights across the product lifecycle.
  3. Demonstrate strategic territory vision, including identification and mapping of key stakeholders, opportunities for partnerships with academic centers, involvement of HCPs in medical needs, and collaboration with internal stakeholders to achieve therapeutic, clinical, or product goals.
  4. Support clinical trials by facilitating relevant medical activities and collaborating with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations.
  5. Collaborate with internal teams (HEOR, access, marketing, sales) to advance clinical practice while maintaining customer focus and compliance.
  6. Maintain in-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area and Novartis products to serve as a resource for customers and colleagues.
  7. Stay informed about internal policies and external regulations affecting daily responsibilities.
  8. Complete administrative tasks and training promptly, including CRM updates and profiling customers.
  9. Adapt to emerging responsibilities and evolving territory needs.
  10. Proactively pursue personal and professional development.

Compensation: The starting salary range is $166,400 - $249,600 for Managers and $183,200 - $274,800 for ADs. Final pay depends on experience, location, and other factors. Benefits include a sign-on bonus, stock units, awards, and comprehensive health and retirement plans. The position is at-will, with potential salary adjustments.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in science or healthcare required; doctoral degree preferred (MD, PhD, DNP, PharmD, etc.).
  • Experience levels vary by role: Managers require 0-3 years (or 3-5 years preferred) in a medical or scientific role; ADs require 3+ years (or 5-7 years preferred) in a similar role.
  • Strong clinical knowledge, including pharmacotherapy, treatment guidelines, research processes, and compliance with FDA and industry regulations, is essential.
  • Must work within applicable laws, regulations, and policies, and promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Field-based role covering DC, DE, East VA, and MD; residence within 50 miles of the territory border is required. Travel of 60-70% is expected.

Additional Notes: Successful completion of initial training is required. Driving is an essential function; a valid driver’s license is necessary.
