Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Scheduler to support medical office operations in Amarillo, TX. Under supervision, you will schedule patient appointments and tests, act as liaison between patients and staff, and ensure compliance with US Oncology standards.

You will maintain scheduling templates, coordinate with physicians and clinic personnel, arrange for financial counseling as needed, and protect patient confidentiality while contributing to front-office efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years medical office experience.
  • Experience scheduling patients and coordinating tests.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and privacy standards.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule patient appointments and tests per physician guidelines.
  • Maintain scheduling templates for physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding, and call coverage.
  • Arrange for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to policies.
  • Assist with front desk tasks and prepare documents as requested.
  • May schedule post-operative follow ups with physicians.
  • Understand basic medical terminology for scheduling procedures.

Description

What does the Scheduler Do?Under direct supervision, responsible for scheduling patient appointments and tests in an efficient and timely manner. Serves as a liaison between patient and medical staff. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Schedules returning patients in computer system in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines. Cancels/reschedules appointments according to physician schedule changes; notifies appropriate clinic personnel.
  • Maintains primary office scheduling template containing physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding and call coverage.
  • Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/practice.
  • Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office. Covers for other front office functions as requested.
  • Prepares correspondence, memos, forms and other typing as requested by supervisor.
  • May be responsible for scheduling post-operative follow up appointments with Physicians.
  • Where applicable, basic understanding of medical terminology for tests and surgical procedures, including coding and ability to look up codes specific to diagnosis, surgery and scheduling procedure.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Amarillo, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
