Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking an organized Records Technician to ensure patient information is available electronically. You will prep, scan, and index records, assist clinical staff, and manage chart retrieval and reconciliation. Strong typing, Excel proficiency, and confidentiality are essential.

Responsibilities include printing discharge lists, verifying patient IDs, and handling routine inquiries with a focus on accuracy and timeliness in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–6 months on-the-job training to develop core records skills.
• Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
• Knowledge of medical records preferred; computers/office equipment experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prep, scan, and index medical records; ensure correct patient identification with barcodes.
• Print discharge lists and reconcile against charts; identify missing or held records.
• Retrieve records for processing; coordinate with clinical staff to procure/refile as needed.
• Scan records into the document imaging system with attention to legibility and batch accuracy.
• Answer department calls; provide after-hours release of information per protocol.
