Qualifications

• High school graduate required.

• RHIT preferred or RHIT eligible.
• 2 years experience in Health Information Management or related health care/office experience.
• Microsoft Office suite, basic medical terminology.
• HIPAA/confidentiality guidelines knowledge.
• Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette.
• Keyboarding/data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Process health records using clinical applications and verify demographic accuracy.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of patient records; follow release rules.
• Complete Birth Certificates timely and accurately per state timelines.
• Monitor data integrity across patient information systems and MPI.
• Handle release of information requests from patients and insurers.
• Meet productivity and quality standards per department policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned by HIM management.
