Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, memos, and short correspondence.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information to patients, providers and staff.
• Willingness to learn and work with new computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Maintains patient confidentiality and chart security; complies with laws and regulations.
• Performs data entry and information management; maintains data integrity.
• Reviews all incoming documents.
• Scans and indexes documents to EMR; photocopies and prints requested records.
• Maintains familiarity with Medical Records policies.
• Assists with referral follow-up.
• Reports duplicate EMR accounts.
• Manages dictation tapes.
• Pulls charts from file and prepares for use.
• Returns charts to file after review.
• Improves/maintains/purges paper charts.
• Adheres to attendance policy.
• Performs other duties as designated by supervisor.
