Job Location: Rosedale Office - Rosedale, MD 21237, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: High School, Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly, Job Category: Health Care, Thrive Behavioral Health is actively hiring a Medical Records Specialist to join the administrative team in Rosedale Maryland. This is a full time position working in-person at the clinical office. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process medical records request from all outside sources within 3-5 business days
- Checks clients’ in for psychiatry and/or clinical appointments.
- Communicate with appropriate staff to ensure records are accurate and appropriate before releasing
- Maintain the consents and ROI’s for all clients daily
- Answers phones, schedules appointments, answers questions and requests as needed.
- Attends meetings as assigned and reports on major points and actions resolved or needed to be taken.
- Resolves administrative problems by preparing reports, analyzing data and identifying solutions if requested.
- Address all subpoenas with appropriate staff and if needed legal counsel
- Handles a variety of matters involving contact with various staff and prescribers.
- Composes correspondence and disseminates to appropriate individuals.
- Develops and updates administrative systems to make them more efficient.
- Prepares various documents and handles confidential matters in accordance with clinic policies and procedures.
- Ensures equipment operates effectively, calls for repairs when necessary, maintains equipment inventories, and evaluates the performance of new equipment.
- Takes vitals as needed.
- Disinfects various items as needed per infection control.
- Attends and completes all required agency trainings.
- Performs other duties and tasks as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Prefers minimum of two years of administrative assistant experience, including one year of experience in healthcare.
- Knowledge of industry standards as related to the position of Administrative Assistant.
- Basic knowledge of PC software programs, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook is preferred.
- Knowledge of purchasing, budgeting, and inventory control.
- Written and oral communication skills; must be able to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic.
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision in an unstructured environment with multiple demands.
- Must possess a reading and writing level that provides for clear expression and/or understanding of assignments related to job description.
- Be fully aware of all facility programs, their eligibility requirements, competencies and strengths.
- Has the ability to consistently consult with supervisor when necessary and works as a team.
- Must be organized, flexible, and able to demonstrate self-motivation and prioritization.
- Ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the facility in person and over the telephone.
Qualifications: MINIMUM JOB REQUIRMENTS
- High school diploma, or GED equivalent or three years’ work experience.
- Preferred, Experienced as a Medical Records Specialist or similar, preferably in the field of behavioral health.
- Preferred, Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling or psychology from an accredited university or related field: BSW or MSW preferred (Significant experience in aging could replace the educational requirement).
- Prefer CPR/First Aid Certification.
