Job summary

Community Eldercare Services in Laurel, MS is seeking a Medical Records Coordinator who is highly organized and detail‑driven to ensure accurate, secure, and compliant resident records. You will collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, leadership, and other healthcare professionals to support quality care and regulatory compliance.

Essential duties include maintaining records in accordance with federal, state, local, and company requirements; preparing admissions, transfers, and discharge

Qualifications

  • Active RN or LPN license in good standing.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to meet health regulations and perform essential functions.
  • Experience with long-term care and patient records is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with federal, state, local, and company requirements.
  • Prepare and organize resident records, admissions, transfers, and discharge documentation.
  • Monitor records for completeness and accuracy through audits.
  • Provide daily clinical reports, including past-due forms and clinical alerts.
  • Gather and update resident information from nursing staff, physicians, and other sources.
  • Support the Nursing Department with administrative activities and documentation.

Are you highly organized, detail-driven, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of residents? Join our team as a Medical Records Coordinator, where your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy help ensure exceptional care and compliance for every resident we serve.

In this important role, you’ll be the keeper of critical medical information—making sure records are accurate, complete, secure, and available when needed. You’ll work closely with nursing staff, physicians, leadership, and other healthcare professionals while playing a key role in supporting quality care and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties:
  • Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with federal, state, local, and company requirements.
  • Prepare and organize resident records, admissions, transfers, and discharge documentation.
  • Monitor records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance through daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly audits.
  • Provide daily clinical reports, including past-due forms, clinical alerts, orders, admissions, and discharges.
  • Gather and update resident information from nursing staff, physicians, and other authorized sources.
  • Support the Nursing Department with administrative activities, audits, education, and documentation.
Requirements
Required:
  • Active RN or LPN license in good standing
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to meet applicable local health regulations.
  • Ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
Preferred:
  • 2+ years of experience in Long-Term Care.
  • Experience with PointClickCare.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Healthcare or medical records experience.
