Job summary

Sharecare is seeking a Release of Information Clerk to process requests accurately while safeguarding patient privacy under HIPAA. You will retrieve and route medical records, verify authorizations, and ensure proper invoicing and data quality.

You will handle high-volume requests, maintain a neat work area, and deliver excellent customer service to providers and patients while staying current with state laws and company policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (GED) required.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a medical records department or similar setting preferred.
• Strong computer software experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to type 50 wpm.
• Proficiency with fax, copier, and scanning equipment.
• Willingness to learn new equipment and processes quickly.
• Must be self-motivated and a team player.
• Proven customer satisfaction skills.
• Ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Process release of information requests accurately and timely.
• Retrieve patient's medical chart and return chart, scan records, and transmit per requests.
• Date stamp requests and highlight pertinent data.
• Validate requests and authorizations for release of medical information.
• Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and correct invoicing.
• Maintain equipment and ensure a neat, clean work area.
• Provide excellent customer service and confirm understanding of requests.
• Handle incoming requests via mail, phone, and fax as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of state laws and fee structures.
• Work in compliance with HIPAA and related regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards with all information.
• Release medical records in an efficient, accurate manner.
