Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to oversee QA of inpatient, outpatient surgery, and rehab records at the Methodist Corporate Office in Omaha. You will analyze records for deficiencies per quantitative procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.

Daily tasks include abstracting acute care records with 98% accuracy, entering data into patient records, and ensuring records are ready for coding and physician completion to meet Joint Commission standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of medical terminology coursework within 6 months of start date.
• Participates in mandatory in-service training and continuing education.
• Prefer prior experience in a Health Information department.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical record practices.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and typing 40 wpm with 95% accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial QA of inpatient, outpatient surgery, and rehab records to ensure completeness and regulatory compliance by analyzing records per procedure.
• Abstracts acute care records to maintain a valid database by entering data elements into patient records per department procedure.
• Abstracts medical records with 98% accuracy.
• Ensures records are available for coding and physician completion to meet Joint Commission standards and departmental goals.
