Job summary

Artesia Palms Care Center in Artesia, CA seeks a Medical Records Clerk to maintain resident medical records and health information systems in line with federal and state guidelines.

You will organize, file, index, and retrieve records, assist in schedules, coordinate with departments, ensure privacy, and support MDS scheduling and OBRA guidelines. On-the-job training provided; must have high school diploma and typing speed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to type a minimum of 45 words per minute and use dictation equipment.
• A working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of health information, coding, indexing, etc., preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain resident medical records and health information systems.
• Fill and file charts, abstracts, index records, and update patient information.
• Retrieve and deliver resident charts to authorized personnel.
• Assist in scheduling assessments and coordinating with MDS Coordinator.
• Ensure records are complete, properly filed, and privacy policies are followed.
• Maintain registries and prepare reports for committees as directed.
